Based on the EPS rigid board type, EPS insulation products are available at different water vapor permeances. As a result, some EPS insulation types can double as insulation and a vapor barrier when they comply with vapor barrier requirements highlighted in building codes having jurisdictions.

 

COST-EFFECTIVE

Compared to most other insulation types, EPS insulation is typically less expensive. Because of its sustainable physical properties, such as long-term thermal resistance, it is considered a more cost-effective long-term option.

In geofoam or below grade applications, EPS insulation is a light weight alternative to traditional fills and not only cuts transportation and labour expenses but also simplifies jobsite logistics, as less effort and fewer resources are required to move the material.​

Because EPS is a lightweight material, the installation process is also much quicker than other insulation types, which helps to reduce project timelines.

TYPES OF EPS ROOFING INSULATION

EPS is an extremely diverse insulation solution, fabricated to meet multiple roofing and wall system assemblies:

  1. Fanfold EPS is a nonstructural, rigid insulation board with a laminated facer. ​
  2. Tapered EPS roofing insulation can be custom manufactured to meet a project’s specific slope and thickness. ​
  3. Poly-faced EPS insulation is a prime choice for insulating commercial roofs, providing additional protection against environmental stresses.​
  4. Flute fill EPS insulation is a custom-cut foam board for retrofitting metal roofs with new roofing systems.​
  5. Holey board EPS products are custom-cut foam boards with pre-cut holes designed for new and retrofit applications. ​
  6. Modular stay-in-place formwork uses type 2 close-cell EPS with embedded polypropylene webs for added support during construction.
