HRAI’s Contractors Division Board of Directors approved the four submissions that were presented at the HRAI Town Hall which took place after the Contractors Annual General Meeting in October.
The approval sets the stage for a very interesting 2021 as the four submissions impact four different regions in Canada. The submissions approved are:
- HRAI should engage with Technical Safety BC to explore the development of a compliance assistance program, to be managed by HRAI that would help BC contractors to comply with Boilers and Pressure Vessels (BPV) regulations, modeled on a similar program that has served members in Ontario.
- HRAI should develop a comprehensive plan for the development and implementation of a residential HVAC trade, tied into the existing Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade and building on the program model that exists in other provinces, to better serve the needs of the residential HVAC industry in the four Atlantic Provinces.
- HRAI should develop a plan of action to address concerns about inappropriate utility intrusions in to the HVAC marketplace in Alberta, collaborating with other industry groups as necessary.
- HRAI should explore the possibility of a legislated solution to concerns about municipally-owned utilities engaging in business activities outside the scope of regulation under the Ontario Energy Board.
HRAI staff will work on each item and report updates to the Contractors Division Board of Directors while informing the general membership of progress though the HRAI newsletter and other communication tools.
