The City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) is located in the heart of cottage country. In the last 20 years, our communities have matured into Ontario’s second largest single-tier municipality and home to some of the most vibrant downtowns, abundant green spaces and diverse opportunities. CKL is made up of several communities, each with its own unique personality and together we offer a network of experiences unlike anywhere else. From the downtowns of Coboconk, Norland, Omemee, Lindsay, Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon to our strong agricultural heritage, here in Kawartha Lakes is whereurban meets rural.
Procurement falls under the Corporate Services umbrella and the Division consists of the Manager (Treasurer), Supervisor, three Buyers and a Junior Buyer who manage over 25 million in procurement projects annually.
Carolyn Daynes – Treasurer
Carolyn has been with CKL for over 20 years, with the last 10 years in the position of Treasurer. Procurement is the hub of the City in that all projects are either administered in house or assistance is given to delegated departments on their smaller projects. When she is not at work, you will find her at a family cottage, soaking up the sun at her backyard pool or enjoying time with her two grown children.
Launa Macey – Procurement Supervisor
Launa has been with CKL for over 17 years, starting in customer service. In 2007 she obtained a position as the Procurement Clerk, then moved into the Buyer’s position. Being able to not only supervise the department, but also know first hand what a buyer does, has been invaluable to help out as necessary during peak times. On her time off, she is boating on the Trent, exploring various Ontario destinations in their trailer or spending quality time with her 3 grand children.
Marielle vanEngelen – Buyer
Marielle has been with the City for 24 years. She has held various positions in IT, Building and Property, Public Works, Human Services and Economic Development. In 2016, she filled in for a leave in Procurement and secured a permanent Buyer’s position in 2017. Her portfolio includes solid waste, roads and fleet. She is extremely knowledgeable on all things waste, including recycling and roadside pick up. When she is not shuttling her son around to various soccer events, she is spending time creating and selling various crafts.
Ashley Wykes – Buyer
Ashley started as a summer student at the City before starting her career in Procurement in 2011. Her original position was General Clerk in Treasury and worked other positions within the department. In 2017 she was hired as a Buyer where she works mostly with Community Services and Corporate Services departments creating and building parks, constructing or renovating buildings and buying IT software. One of her favorite parts of her job is seeing the end result of her projects. Her children now ask when they go to a local park, whether she bought it or not and if she did, it then becomes known as “Mommy’s park”. Outside of work you can find her in the great outdoors, reading a good book, or travelling with her family.
Linda Lee – Buyer
Linda has always been in a procurement position of some sort. Her purchasing career started around 1993 with Magna International as a Transportation Specialist, her job was procuring all of the trucks and arranging milk runs and customs for all of the components from suppliers and finished products into the OEM plants (Ford, GM and Chrysler). She joined the City of Kawartha Lakes in 2018 as a Buyer procuring goods and services for the Engineering and Water Wastewater Departments. Transitioning from the Private sector to the Public sector has been exciting, informative and scary all at the same time. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, travelling and of course buying things.
Kristy Wilson – Junior Buyer
Kristy previously worked as in the gaming industry for 14 years and then worked for an online payment provider and joined the City of Kawartha Lakes on October 1, 2018. Kristy received the OPBA Education Program in 2022. She is currently responsible for procuring a wide variety of goods and services for Corporate Services, Police Services, Developmental Services and Human Services/Housing. She enjoys working with different departments in the City and leaning how they operate. Outside of work, Kristy loves to travel and spend time with her family
