Alltrade Industrial Inc., part of the Barton Malow Family of Companies, marked its 10-year anniversary on Friday, Oct. 1 with a celebration at its headquarters office in Cambridge, Ontario. The event reflected on Alltrade’s modest beginnings upon its founding to establishing itself as a leader in several key industries.
Formed in 2011 with just 10 team members, Alltrade now employs over 200 team members and operates three offices throughout Canada as a leader in the Energy, Transit, Industrial, and Utility markets.
Bob Ritzmann, Alltrade President and Founder, kicking off with a safety message, said, “Everyone needs to go home at night in the same shape they came to work. We recently achieved 1.6 million manhours without a lost time injury.” He also noted that Alltrade’s very first employees are still with the company today, and Ritzmann shared how important it was to set the core values and culture in those early days.

Alltrade’s core purpose is building people, projects and communities with integrity, partnership and empowerment. This evolved from its first motto: “Honesty, integrity, and a fair price is not only the best policy it is the only policy.” Ritzmann said everyone holds themselves accountable to this credo.
Kathryn McGarry, Mayor of Cambridge, was the first speaker and she shared how proud she was to have Alltrade in the City of Cambridge.
“Alltrade has been an ambassador for Cambridge across Canada, as well as a leader and wonderful community partner,” McGarry said. She proudly remarked on one of Alltrade’s projects for Cambridge’s largest employer and the largest automotive production plant in Canada, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada’s cogeneration power system in its motor manufacturing plant in Ontario. “As we look to a better, cleaner and greener future, we know we need to find better and innovative ways of doing things and Alltrade is doing just that” through its multiple clean energy projects.

Newly reelected Member of Parliament for Cambridge Brian May commended Alltrade for its focus on safety. He said the recent pandemic was a giant spotlight on the need for safety and Alltrade was able to successfully adapt to these new norms because safety has always been at its core. While presenting Alltrade with an honorary certificate, he noted that “all three levels of government were represented at the event which is very rare” and thanked Alltrade for providing steady employment and contributing to the economy.
Member of Provincial Parliament, Belinda Carmen Karahalios, said, “There is a family feel to the company that I think contributes to its success.”
R. Graeme Aitken, Executive Director at the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO) which represents and champions the interests of the electrical contracting industry, said, “Bob led the charge in teaming up with the eleven local contractors’ associations to contribute more than $300,000 over the last two years for COVID impacts, specifically mental health and food security.”
Skills Canada, whose mission is to encourage and support a coordinated Pan-Canadian approach to promoting skilled careers in trades and technologies to youth and their communities, was also present with a trade booth at the event.
Cambridge Chamber of Commerce CEO Greg Durocher, and other distinguished government and industry guests were present, and the day was replete with festivities including a Blue Grass band and food trucks, one of which was the well-known Canadian favourite Beavertails.
