As was reported in previous HRAI newsletters, HRAI and ORAC (the Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors) have formalized a working relationship to collaborate on government relations and advocacy efforts related to Ontario issues affecting contractors.
Each association has designated four representatives to be members of this joint Government Relations Committee with the Chair and Vice-Chair each serving two-year terms. The initial meeting was held on December 16, 2019
The Committee will initially be chaired by Tony Mammoliti, Ambient Mechanical Ltd. and Vice-Chair will be Roger Grochmal, AtlasCare Heating & Cooling. Other committee members include:
- David Weishuhn, Blue Flame
- Nathalie Brooks, Brooks Heating & Air Inc.
- Rose Anderson, Buchanan, and Hall
- Kevin Whitten, Rosetown Central Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Ltd.
- Dave Irwin, Xtra Mechanical Limited
- Jim McAughey, Standard Mechanical
The broad purpose of this joint committee is two-fold:
- To promote the interests of the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) in Ontario.
- To advocate, advance and resolve jointly held HVACR key priorities to the provincial government and other levels of government as appropriate.
As always, HRAI and ORAC members are encouraged to provide their feedback and to share their concerns regarding issues they are encountering. Feedback and information from members is important.
Taking a proactive, ongoing, consultative approach will aim to ensure that we remain aware and informed of the provincial government’s direction on various issues. More importantly, it will work to ensure the various ministers and ministry staff are better educated and informed about the policy needs of the HVACR sector.
