Advocacy
Advocacy, as defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary states: “the act or process of supporting a cause or proposal.”
Everyday, MCAS is working to improve the mechanical contracting industry in Saskatchewan. We are there to advocate for industry members both in the fore front and behind the scenes.
Our partnerships with organizations such as SaskEnergy, the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) and the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK), enable us to bring forth the issues that matter most to the members.
The time spent lobbying the government has generated key successes for the industry. Whether it was the realization of Prompt Payment Legislation or changes to apprenticeship ratios, our advocacy role has proven effective at improving the mechanical contracting industry.
Our most recent advocacy work resulted in the expansion of the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan, which now includes Gas Inspections, licensing, and rural plumbing inspections, thus ensuring uniformity in the industry.
Our members are always encouraged to reach out to us with their concerns or problems. We strive to address and resolve your issues. At times they are handled by staff, with others being elevated to the board level for discussion.
Our advocacy work extends from the provincial level to the national level with the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada. Representatives from MCAS sit on the National Board of Directors. At this level issues that face our industry across the country are addressed.
As our industry grows, more members are seeing real benefits from being part of a province wide network committed to a strong and healthy construction environment for all.
