It’s been a long 18 months, and that’s stating it mildly. Phrases like “social distance” and “vaccine passport” are now part of daily life, hospitals and health care workers are even more overburdened, and first responders are exhausted – and this was all before the proof of vaccination program went into effect in late September.
Historically, Hexagon has taken advantage of this editorial opportunity in the OACP newsletter to discuss emerging issues in public safety and public safety technology. We seek to share thought leadership while spreading awareness of our next-gen public safety software solutions for dispatch, fire, and law enforcement organizations.
However, this month we want to use this space to thank you for the work you have done, are doing, and will continue to do to keep Ontario and its 14.5 million people healthy and safe. You’ve had to go to work and do your jobs every day, and often for more hours than you did pre-pandemic. What’s more, at the end of the day, you haven’t been able to go to a restaurant or gym to wind down and relax. You’ve had to care for hundreds of thousands of people in their darkest hours, and then go home and homeschool your children.
We can’t thank you enough for the work you’ve done. Our response at Hexagon has been to continue to innovate to help make your jobs easier. Particularly in the last 18 months, we’ve seen and responded to that need.
We’ve found ways to use assistive artificial intelligence and machine learning to help make dispatchers’ jobs easier. We developed HxGN OnCall Dispatch | Smart Advisor to connect the dots and see the unseen in emerging situations.
We’ve innovated our mobile dispatch and records solutions to give field-based personnel increased flexibility and mobility and eliminate mandated returns to the station or center in order to complete daily work.
We’ve also continued to refine our cloud-based dispatch solutions to assist dispatch centers that are exploring a more home-based workforce, and to make it easier to move center operations.
Finally, we recently debuted HxGN Connect, which makes real-time, multi-agency collaboration possible.
None of this will replace the important, life-saving work you do, but we’re hoping it will help you hire and retain employees and make day-to-day operations just a little bit easier for you and your colleagues.
