Kick-start your Conference experience by choosing from one of two pre-conference events.
You can spend the afternoon at the magnificent Legends on the Niagara golf course while participating in the Caveat Emptor Cup Challenge. Not a serious golfer? No worries, our golf committee has ensured the play will be filled with lots of fun challenges for all levels of experience. You can register either as an individual or foursome.
Or, if construction procurement is more of an interest, register for the rare opportunity to have a face-to-face dialogue with the instructor and colleagues in the Advanced Procurement for Construction workshop facilitated by Tina Iacoe. This course is for procurement professionals in the public sector who are called upon for their expertise in developing and administering large, sometimes complex, procurements for construction. Although the Introduction to Procurement in Construction is not a pre-requisite for the Advanced course, it is strongly advised that learners have experience in construction procurement. The Advanced course qualifies as one of the two additional courses required to be eligible to write the Principles exam. Learners do not have to be enrolled in the Principles Certificate program to take this course. Registration is limited, so be sure to register early.
Day 1will officially launch at 12:30 with provocative speakers, including JUNO-nominated musician and storyteller Peter Katz, NCPP Executive Director Tammy Rimes, and Northern Strategic Partners CEO and Partner Chris McLeod. Afterwards, attendees will board the WEGO bus for a delicious dinner overlooking the falls at Table Rock Restaurant. where Chris Penny, CEO of Kinetic GPO, will welcome you. You’ll also hear from Paul John Sapounzi of +VG Architects, the designer of Niagara’s newest attraction, the Power Station and Tunnel, who will enthrall you with the story of how the tourist attraction came to be. And, of course, you will want to take the Tunnel tour right out to the closest vantage point of the Falls – it’s the best free facial you’ll ever get!
This amazing social event has been made possible thanks to our generous sponsors: Visionary Partner, Kinetic GPO, and our Design Consultant Partner, +VG Architects – The Ventin Group.
Day 2, also known as Casual Conference Day (i.e. wear your OPBA charity t-shirts), won’t disappoint. We have a jam-packed day with concurrent sessions with subject matter experts that touch all aspects of the procurement world, such as social and circular procurement, accessible design, contractual risk transfer, agile procurement, debrief best practices, and more! Unwind at the Mix and Mingle Reception, sponsored by Intact Public Entities, followed by the Chair’s Awards Gala. Be sure to wear your dancing shoes and groove to your favourite rhythms played by a local DJ.
Purchase your t-shirt on the conference website and support ProjectShare. Remember that your conference registration and t-shirt must be purchased using different email addresses in separate transactions.
Last but certainly not least, Day 3 will bring it home. This day is about you. Learn about bringing your best self to work when you take care of your mental health and take in the meditative experience of making your own medicine bag while learning about Indigenous history and culture. You will be better positioned to develop thoughtful and meaningful procurement practices through understanding.
