It seems every time you turn on the news, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is in the headlines. It’s a game changer; as big, if not bigger, than when the internet was introduced in the workplace. Most of us cannot imagine how we would manage our daily lives without access to the digital world, let alone work. However, we need to enter this next technology phase with our eyes wide open. It will require careful consideration about how it is used, risk management assessments must be conducted, and quite possibly, for the benefit of society, legislation to ensure AI is used ethically.
As AI works its way into public procurement, if it hasn’t already, we need to be asking ourselves a few questions, such as:
- What is the business case?
- How will it benefit public procurement?
- How will it impact the role and work of public procurement professionals?
- What are the opportunities?
- How do we mitigate the challenges?
