March is Procurement Month, and we want to celebrate this exciting, rewarding, sometimes frustrating, yet fulfilling profession and the people who chose to work in it. Create a video and tell us why you work in the sector. Some people fell into public procurement, others made a deliberate career choice. Did you want to do meaningful and rewarding work? Was it the challenge? To get work experience? It was your first job offer? Or was it the vacation, pension, and benefits? Or maybe it was a combination of all of the above.
You could win your registration to the 2024 OPBA Conference by creating a video and telling us “Why you work in public procurement”!
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
• It’s easy! Shoot a short video (no longer than 1 minute), give us your name, position, how long you’ve been in procurement, where you work, and why you decided to get into the public procurement field. (see tips for filming yourself below)
WHAT YOU COULD WIN
• The winning video, which will be chosen by random draw, will receive a free registration to our 2024* conference.
Videos will be posted for viewing by Members Only on the OPBA website – watch for a link in the March Caveat.
HOW TO ENTER
Please email your video to specialprojects@opba.ca using https://wetransfer.com/ no later than 4:00 pm on February 29, 2024. In your email, please ensure you provide your name, and agency.
The Winner will be selected by a random selection on March 7, 2024, and notified directly.
Tips for filming yourself:
1. Find a quiet spot, preferably with a neutral background like a wall.
2. Find some good lighting – outside, or facing a window is great! (Don’t have your back to a window)
3. Film horizontally (aka landscape). You can hold your phone yourself, set it on a stack of books, or have someone with steady hands hold it for you.
4. Wait a couple seconds to start talking after you hit record, and wait a few more seconds after you’re done talking to end the recording. This makes it easier to edit, and helps ensure you don’t get cut off!
5.Practice what you want to say. You can write it down or rehearse in front of a mirror so you feel comfortable and natural.
Fine Print: *No substitutions. The free registration must be used for the 2024 conference. If the winning candidate cannot attend the 2024 conference, the registration may be given to a colleague upon notice to OPBA.
