We’re pleased to share that OPBA’s Mentoring Program, launched last year, was very well received and continued to grow throughout 2025. Thanks to the strong interest and positive feedback from participants, we’re excited to bring the program back for 2026!
A sincere thank you to everyone who participated as a Mentor or Mentee. All past participants are welcome to return, and we also encourage anyone who hasn’t yet participated to consider joining this year.
Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just beginning your public procurement journey, OPBA’s Mentoring Program offers a valuable opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside peers you may not encounter in your day-to-day work.
The program supports meaningful networking, encourages open and judgment-free feedback, and facilitates knowledge-sharing across generations—helping both Mentors and Mentees grow and succeed in an evolving public procurement environment.
We invite you to review the qualifications below and sign up to participate as a Mentor or Mentee this fall.
Mentor Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in procurement, including at least one (1) year in a senior public procurement role
- Professional designation (preferred)
- Subject matter expertise in one or more public procurement areas
- Commitment to participate as a Mentor for one (1) year
- Strong listening and problem-solving skills; respectful and supportive approach
- A genuine desire to give back to the profession and support colleagues across the province
Mentee Requirements
- Take initiative in establishing Mentor connections, including suggesting communication methods and session frequency
- Come prepared with career goals and discussion topics; actively listen and remain open to feedback
- Take responsibility for your own learning and be open to new ideas and approaches
- Maintain mutual trust, communicate clearly, and respect your Mentor’s time
- Apply learnings and make the most of the mentoring relationship
